Hipper-Than-Thou

Folks, welcome to the blog, a work-in-progress look at collegiate a cappella that I'll update through the publication of "Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory" in May.

Speaking of which, we generated our first bit of noise last week, when John Terauds of the Toronto Star mentioned "Pitch Perfect" in a story about the rise of collegiate a cappella, and then referred to me as a "hipper-than-thou GQ magazine editor." To which I say: John, right back at ya.

Check it out here.

he might have called you "hipper than thou" because your article sounds disdainful of the culture. You make no mention of what thousands of students pay money to see every semester-- performance, musicianship, and often comedy-- but choose instead to pick at the uncoolness of it all. I'm interested to see whether your book is an exploration or a circus peepshow.
